Holden has launched its revamped 2016 Cruze line-up, with the mid-spec CDX grade making way for the new Z-Series specification and the sporty SRi-V adopting the new SRI-Z moniker. The wagon-bodied Cruze Sportwagon is conspicuously absent, as is the SRi spec.
Price-wise, not a whole lot has changed. The Cruze Equipe continues to open the range at $19,890 as a manual sedan or hatch, and the automatic Z-Series hatch and sedan has adopted the CDX's $24,840 pricetag.
The manual Z-Series essentially lobs in as a three-pedal CDX, and priced at $22,640.
The SRI-Z is now the only model in the range to get the turbocharged 1.6 litre petrol four, which produces 132kW and 230Nm and drives the front wheels via a six-speed manual or automatic.
To further differentiate it from the rest of the range, the SRI-Z also scores a unique sports body kit, sports suspension, 18-inch alloys, alloy pedals, and badging.
The Cruze Equipe and Z-Series make do with a 103kW/175Nm naturally-aspirated 1.8 litre petrol, available with a six-speed auto or six-speed manual in both hatch or sedan bodystyle.
While the only major change for the 2016 Cruze Equipe consists of a new set of 17-inch alloys, the Z-Series arrives with a seven-inch colour touchscreen, voice recognition with Siri 'eyes-free' functionality, leather upholstery, keyless ignition, a rear-view camera, unique 17" alloys, Z-Series floormats, sill plates and a subtle rear spoiler.
A new colour has also been introduced for the 2016 model year - Slipstream Blue.
