The two avenues open to Red Bull Racing Australia to revise the finishing order for the 2016 Bathurst 1000 have now been closed, with the Confederation of Australian Motorsport (CAMS) dismissing the team’s final appeal.

Through the Supercars National Court of Appeal, Triple Eight Race Engineering had appealed the severity of the 15-second penalty handed to the #88 Holden VF Commodore of Jamie Whincup and Paul Dumbrelll following the on-track incident during the 1000km race at Mount Panorama.

Earlier, the team learnt that a penalty of some sort would stand for the incident. However, it is only now - nine days after the chequered flag fell - that the race victory for Will Davison and Jonathon Webb in the #19 Tekno Autosports Holden Commodore has been locked in.

Following this decision, Triple Eight sought to salvage some championship points with an appeal against the severity of the 15-second penalty, but the appeal was also dismissed.
