As expected, the R-Design kit gives the new XC90 a more sporting look, with 22- and 20-inch five-spoke alloys and a lightly enhanced styling kit.
Among those tweaks are a unique finish to the grille and front bumper, a front spoiler, a satin finish to the mirror covers and door trims, and integrated dual exhaust tips.
“R-Design is created for people with a passion for things that add spice to life,” Volvo marketing boss Alain Visser said.
“It appeals to customers that love active driving and a personal, expressive design. Every single R-Design detail is designed to contribute to the individualistic and refined expression these customers desire.”
In the cain, there’s sports seats and a perforated leather-wrapped steering wheel, along with R-Design versions of the gearshift knob, pedals, floor mats and tread plates.
Volvo has yet to reveal if the R-Design models will gain any mechanical or handling tweaks, although it is likely the kit will focus on styling exclusively.
Powertrain options across the XC90 range will include 189kW/350Nm T5 and 238kW/400Nm T6 four-cylinder petrol engines.
Topping the petrol range will be a 298kW/640Nm ‘T8’ system that pairs the four-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor.
Diesel mills will also feature, with the range offering 142/400Nm and 168kW/450Nm four-cylinder options.
