2015 VOLKSWAGEN TOUAREG
Volkswagen’s second-generation Touareg SUV has been given a mid-life makeover for 2014, following the current model’s unveiling back in 2010.
For the new model year, the Touareg gets subtly re-styled headlights and a new four-bar grille, along with refreshed tail-lights and new bumpers at both ends.
Interior design remains largely unchanged, although there are new trim options and highlights, along with new chrome accents to the dash.
The Touareg’s updates also include the addition of a post-collision braking system to prevent secondary impacts, along with bi-xenon headlights and a coasting system that decouples the engine and transmission while coasting.
Other features include camera monitoring, lane keep assist, blindspot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, pre-collision safety systems and active high-beam control. Nine airbags are fitted as standard.
Engine options remain unchanged, which for Australia means the 150TDI, V6 TDI and V8 TDI models.
Local launching timing is still to be confirmed, although we can likely expect the update to land later this year or early in 2015.
The Touareg remains a solid performer in the Australian $70k+ SUV market, with 388 sales year-to-date in 2014 against 298 for the same period in 2013.
