Volkswagen's new Jetta-based four door "coupe" has been leaked before its official debut at the upcoming Chengdu Motor Show, revealing the production version of the New Midsize Coupe Concept that broke cover in April.
To be built and sold exclusively in the Chinese market, the sedan - which bears the name "Lamando" on its rump - will be positioned under the larger CC and sold with a range of 1.4 and 2.0 litre petrol four-cylinder engines.
And though the bumpers, wheels and lamp clusters have been toned down, the Lamando's sheetmetal appears to be identical to that of the NMC Concept.
The interior remains under wraps for now (though glimpses of it can be seen in the video below), but expect an interior not too far removed from that of the Golf and Jetta, with room for four people.
As for the name? Well, Volkswagen China says it's a contraction of "Let a man do".
Google Translate says it's Spanish for "the leader", but whatever the case don't count on it landing on Australian shores soon. For now, the Lamando will be restricted to China.
