Toyota’s all-new Aygo city car has surfaced online today, ahead of its unveiling at this week’s Geneva Motor Show.

Again sharing its platform and technology with Peugeot’s perky 108 and Citroen’s angry C1, the Aygo will join its French stablemates on the European market this year.

The first-generation Aygo appeared in 2005, the result of a partnership secured in 2001 with Peugeot and Citroen to share development and production costs.

The outgoing Aygo is available in three- and five-door form, and while details for the new model are still to come, it is likely that a five-door plan will be the focus.

While the 108 and C1 wear similar styling treatments, the new Aygo again blazes its own trail, with a unique new look.

The front-end employs an X-like bumper and fender treatment, flanked by sharp headlights and a wider lower grille.

At the rear, there’s tall blade-like tail-lights and - rather like the 108 and C1 - a glass hatch with a black lower section.

The Aygo will again share the engine and transmission options that will be offered with the new 108 and C1, including 1.0 and 1.2 litre three-cylinder petrol engines, and a five-speed manual.

All three models will be built in the Czech Republic.

Watch for the Aygo to make its official debut in Geneva this week.
