  • Tata Xenon gains Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and new features.
  • Dual-Cab ANCAP Safety Rating boosted to 4-Star.
  • Tata ‘Tough Cover’ program launched: warranty, servicing, roadside assist.

Tata’s Xenon pickup, which debuted in Australia late last year, has been given a significant safety upgrade for the 2015 model year.

Headlining those enhancements is the addition of Bosch-engineered Electronic Stability Control, now standard across the Xenon range.

The long-promised upgrade is joined by traction control, electronic brakeforce distribution, hydraulic brake assist, hill-hold assist and drag torque control.

All of this has resulted in an improved ANCAP crash safety score, with the Dual-Cab Xenon model’s rating boosted from 2- to 4-Star this week. (The single-cab variant remains untested, although specifications are identical.)

The new safety rating gives the Xenon a leg-up over the likes of Foton’s Tunland (3-Star) and Mahindra Pik-up (3-Star), and the Great Wall V240 (2-Star).

Existing safety features in the Xenon range include dual front airbags, anti-lock brakes and front seatbelt pretensioners.
