Korean carmaker SsangYong has been spied testing a new compact SUV this week, rumoured to be known as the X100.

Likely inspired by the XIV-1 concept revealed in 2011, the small crossover shown here will reportedly be teased once more with a new showcar at October’s Paris Motor Show.

The production version, undoubtedly the camouflaged prototypes we see in these shots, is expected to go on sale globally from the middle of next year.

Reports suggest that the X100, a rival to the likes of Nissan’s popular Juke and the Holden Trax, will be offered in both five- and seven-seat form.

The UK’s Autocar reports that the five-seat model will be the focus initially, with a longer wheelbase to be added to the range sometime after launch.
