Porsche has revealed its updated Cayenne GTS model today, which will join a new petrol V6 entry model in Australia early next year.

Today’s unveiling follows the August debut of the refreshed Cayenne range, with the ‘new’ GTS arriving to replace the sports-focused model that first debuted in April 2012.

For 2015, the GTS swaps its 294kW/500Nm 4.8 litre V8 for a powered-up version of the 3.6 litre twin-turbo V6 that drives the updated Cayenne S model.

The upgrade sees GTS model’s output and twist grow to 323kW and 600Nm, cutting the performance SUV’s 0-100km/h time from 5.7 to 5.2 seconds. That’s improved to 5.1 seconds with the Sport Chrono package.

Fuel consumption is also improved in the GTS, dropping 0.9 l/100km to 10.0 l/100km.

Porsche says it has also blessed the GTS with a new sports exhaust that produces a “meatier” sound, along with a re-tuned Porsche Active Suspension Management system and larger brakes.

The GTS is priced at $154,600 and enters below the top-shelf $230,800 Cayenne Turbo.

Standard kit with the GTS includes 20-inch alloy wheels, bi-xenon headlights, eight-way powered sports seats up front, leather/Alcantara combination trim, decorative stitching, headrest lettering and contrasting safety belts.

Cayenne V6

A new $108,000 Cayenne V6 petrol model also joins the Australian range, entering between the $104,700 Cayenne Diesel and the $139,900 Cayenne S.

Power in the Cayenne V6 is provided by the same 220kW/400Nm 3.6 litre engine that drove its predecessor, matched to an eight-speed Tiptronic auto and boasting a 7.7 0-100km/h time.

Fuel consumption with the Cayenne V6 is listed at 9.2 l/100km, marking a 0.7 l/100km improvement.

Standard with the Cayenne V6 are bi-xenon headlights, a multi-function steering wheel with paddle shifters, automatic boot lid, 19-inch alloy wheels and auto-dimming mirror.
