2015 NISSAN MURANO
While originally rumoured to appear at the Geneva Motor Show last month, much of the new Murano has already been seen, thanks to revealing spy photos.
Through TMR’s shots of a camouflaged tester, readers have seen that the new Murano will build on the look of Nissan’s earlier Resonance concept.
A shadowy new teaser video released today also offers a telling preview of what’s to come, revealing a first look at the final headlight design and a glimpse of the profile.
As expected, the new Murano will wear Z-like lights at the front and large LED and chrome units at the rear, connected through a sharp character line and a unique glasshouse design.
Nissan reckons the design of the new Murano will ‘shock’ buyers, although it is clear the new SUV will slot comfortably in with the brand’s new look.
Potential powertrain options can again be found within the new Pathfinder, with Nissan changing from a diesel engine to the 3.5 litre V6 petrol unit fitted to the current generation Murano, matched with a CVT.
We could also see the Pathfinder’s supercharged hybrid system appear in the new Murano, enhancing the unique drivetrain’s value within the Nissan production schedule.
Will we see the new Murano in Australia? Absolutely.
Speaking with TMR late last year, Nissan Australia boss Peter Jones told TMR that the Murano will continue here - despite the Pathfinder now offering the same petrol engine with CVT combination, seven seats, two-wheel-drive and a cheaper price tag.
