2015 MINI TRAVELLER SPY PHOTOS
Caught testing in Europe this week is yet another member of the growing MINI family, this time a new wagon model. Could this be the return of the classic Traveller badge?
While the original Morris Mini Traveller of the 60s - and its Austin Mini Countryman sibling - retained the familiar two-door design, its slightly longer chassis made it more of an 'estate' or wagon model.
Nowadays, the Countryman badge does duty in the modern MINI range as a high-riding crossover, but these latest shots suggest that a more conventional wagon model is on the way.
Recent reports suggest the new model will wear either the Traveller or 'Spacebox' badge, and it's possible that we'll see this wagon replace the Clubman in the MINI range.
The new model will join not only the regular three-door Cooper hatch, but also a new five-door version of the light car.
Styling across the three models will be largely identical, although it is clear this new wagon will get longer tail-lights that extend into the classic barn-style doors.
MINI has yet to comment on the coming of a new wagon model, but with this prototype appearing just about ready for production, it likely won't be far away.
