Mercedes-Benz has rounded out its new C-Class range in Australia this week with the arrival of the Estate wagon line and the top-shelf C 300 Bluetec Hybrid sedan.

Entry and mid-range models in the new C-Class family first debuted in August, kicking off with the C 200 and C 250 in petrol and diesel form.

Both of those trim grades and fuel types now have a wagon option, each bringing a $2500 premium over their sedan counterparts.

Importantly, the range now also has a top-shelf flagship model - at least until the hero C 63 arrives - in the form of the diesel-electric C 300 Bluetec Hybrid. See our review here.

As with the new sedan, the C-Class Estate is larger than its predecessor, growing 80mm through the wheelbase and 96mm in overall length. Width has also increased, growing by 40mm.

Mercedes-Benz says this has resulted in an additional 45mm of legroom in the rear. The all-important rear storage is listed at 490 litres, stretching to 1510 litres with the 40/20/40 split-fold rear seats laid flat.

Owners also benefit from an electric release for the folding mechanism of the rear seats, and an optional hands-free ‘Easy Pack’ tailgate is available.

Standard features in the C 200 models include Artico imitation ‘leather’ seat trim, power adjustable front seats, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, a seven-inch display with Garmin MapPilot sat-nav, DAB+ digital radio, and keyless start.

Safety features include Autonomous Emergency Braking, along with nine airbags and a fatigue detection system that alerts the driver when drowsiness is detected and urges a rest stop.

Stepping up to the mid-spec C 250 adds genuine leather interior, 19-inch wheels, keyless entry, and Merc’s Driver Assistance Package Plus that adds adaptive cruise, stop-and-go, active blindspot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, cross traffic alerts, steering assist and more.

The C 300 sedan’s feature set matches the C 250 models, but its advanced hybrid technology sees the price rise by $4500.
