2015 LEXUS IS UPDATE
That new mill is expected to find its way into the IS sometime in the next year, likely wearing the ‘IS 200t’ badge and offering around 185kW of power.
Until then, Lexus has spiced-up the IS in other ways, introducing new comfort and convenience technologies for the 2015 model year.
Updates to the existing IS models include Apple’s Siri Eyes Free system, offering enhanced iPhone connectivity (for ‘4S’ models and newer) and control of the device’s Siri system through the in-car microphone.
An upgraded Lexus Enform Remote system is also on board, introducing extended remote access to the vehicle from iPhone and Android apps.
Enform’s features include remote control of door locks, engine ignition and climate control, a vehicle finding tool and a guest driver monitor.
Existing Enform features include Concierge (quick dial to customer care), Destination Download, Fuel Finder, Local Search and Weather.
Overseas all-wheel-drive models (not offered here) also get a new heated steering wheel option.
The reversing system now includes dynamic on-screen grid guides, and other interior updates include refreshed trim options like piano black to window and instrument switches. A darkened ‘Stratus Grey’ also replaces the interior’s ‘Light Grey’ highlights.
The IS range’s mechanical package remains unchanged for the new model year, although the expected arrival of the new IS 200t model may be accompanied by further tweaks through the line-up.
Australian timing for the updates IS range is still to be confirmed. TMR has reached out to Lexus Australia for details.
