Hyundai has wheeled out a powerful teaser for the coming three-door version of its all-new i20 light hatch.
Revealed early last month, the new five-door i20 will make its European debut later this year - although an Australian launch is still to be decided.
Next month it will be the more sporting three-door model’s turn, with a Paris Motor Show debut now confirmed.
But, as with the early five-door sketches, we shouldn’t expect the new three-door i20 to bear too great a resemblance to the powerful-looking hot hatch previewed in today’s artwork.
Hyundai has revealed little in the way of a true preview - or any details of its final design - but we can likely expect the below speculative rendering to provide a more realistic look at what’s to come.
As with the five-door, we can expect the new three-door i20 to wear long headlights that wrap into a slender upper grille, along with Hyundai’s familiar hexagonal main grille design.
The glasshouse will again see the rear pillar given a blacked-out look that separates the roof from the body, and a fast rising belt-line is also likely.
Engine options for the three-door have not been confirmed, although it may share the five-door model’s small three- and four-cylinder choices.
In Australia, the current i20 range is powered exclusively by a 73kW 1.4 litre petrol engine.
Watch for more images and details to come in October.
