The Captiva is one of GM's oldest models, having been on the market since 2006. But, if these photos are any indication the venerable soft-roader's life is still far from over.

Spied testing in North America, this Captiva prototype wears heavy camouflage over its snout to disguise an upcoming facelift - the second in the model's life, and an indicator that the model may survive for at least two or three more years.

And that means the Captiva - or at least the seven-seat Captiva 7 - will continue to be a fixture of Holden showrooms for the forseeable future. A replacement has yet to be announced, and we may not hear of one until 2016 at the earliest.

But for the smaller Captiva 5, a potential replacement may come in the form of the just-revealed Buick Envision.

Larger than both current Captiva models, the Envision's exterior and five-seat interior boast a fresher design than the antiquated Captiva, along with more up-to-date technology.

Will we see it here though? We don't know, and Holden won't say. Whatever; these photos tell us that we can expect the Captiva to soldier on for a year or two yet.
