Is this Ford's next-generation Australia-bound Mustang coupe?
According to enthusiast site Mustang6g, it's very close. In fact, the site says these renderings are the result of a close look at official images that have yet to be released.
Posted online today, the images were purportedly created "from CAD (Computer-Aided Design) images of the actual production car - which can't themselves be posted for obvious reasons".
The report's authenticity has not been confirmed, although it is clear that the rendered coupe shares more than a few similarities with prototypes spied testing in recent weeks.
Ford has contributed to the rumour mill by letting-up on the new Mustang's front-end camouflage, and TMR's recent spy photos reveal a snout largely identical (but not quite...) to the renderings shown here.
The carmaker has kept the new coupe's profile and roofline heavily under wraps however, leaving a question mark over the design presented in these images.
If the renderings are accurate, it would lend credence to reports that Ford will give the new Mustang a more modern look, focusing less on a loyal interpretation of the pony car's classic lines.
The report adds that Ford may not wait until the Mustang's 50th anniversary in 2014 before unveiling the new model, and an event as early as December has been rumoured.
