2015 BMW X6
BMW's niche-creating X6 'SUV coupe' has been a runaway success for the German carmaker, beating sales expectations in its first year, and selling well in the time since.
The big sports SUV is now into its sixth year on the market, but new spy photos obtained this week reveal that the second-generation X6 is not far away.
Spied ahead of an expected mid 2014 debut, the new X6 will keep much of its predecessor's style, while adoping a face in-line with the more conventional X5 SUV.
The next X6 will again share its platform with the new X5, which made its Australian debut late last year.
Like the new X5, the new X6 will also feature a longer wheelbase to benefit rear seat occupants, with total length measuring somewhere around 4850 to 4900mm.
On the powertrains front, a plug-in hybrid variant is expected to follow petrol and diesel six-cylinder models, and petrol V8 options in 2015.
Exact launch timing is yet to be specified, but a motor show in the US or China - where the demand for luxury SUVs shows no sign of ending - is likely.
