Volkswagen Australia’s triumvirate of hot Golfs is complete this week, with the special GTI Performance and hero Golf R joining the GTI that arrived late last year.

Revealed in August last year, the new Golf R hits Australia this week with a $51,990 starting price - $7500 more than the manual GTI and $3500 beyond the auto-only GTI Performance.

As with its ‘lesser’ siblings (depending on who you ask), the new Golf R brings more power, more features, and a little extra cachet.
