Volkswagen’s light Polo hatch has come in for its first major update since launch in 2009, bringing subtle styling tweaks, new features and upgraded engines for 2014.

You could be forgiven for missing the Polo’s refreshed look, however, with changes limited to new wheels, revised head- and tail-light internals, and a new front bumper.

Optional LED headlights stand out as the major update to the outside, while the cabin gets Volkswagen’s new steering wheel, new materials and redesigned instruments.
