Like the current Golf Wagon variant, the new model matches its hatch counterpart from the B-pillar forward, and gains a wagon-defining 307mm rear overhang extension and deeper tailgate.
The new model also features wagon-specific taillights, and the rear end styling as a whole is more cohesively 'Golf' than the current wagon’s blocky detailing.
Volkswagen’s designers have also more boldly referenced the Golf’s classic C-pillar kick with the new wagon’s D-pillar design.
Driveline options are set to mirror the hatch version’s myriad of diesel and petrol, manual and DSG drivetrains, but specific details will have to wait until the official unveiling this week.

Speaking with TMR from the Geneva Motor Show today, Volkswagen Australia’s Kurt McGuiness confirmed the wagon will join the upcoming Mk7 Golf lineup in Australia some time in 2014.
The all-new 2013 Golf hatch is set to arrive on our shores at the end of April.
