Volkswagen's top-shelf Golf R hatch has been spied testing once more, this time hammering around the Nurburgring with new aero parts attached.
The tester can be seen wearing a unique new front bumper, along with corner-mounted exhaust tips that replace the central setup of the current model.
Reports of the new R's performance capabilities have also grown, with expected output ranging between 205kW to an Audi S3-matching 221kW.
Whatever its figures, expect the new R to be driven by a 2.0 litre turbo four, matched to the lighter new fifth-generation Haldex all-wheel-drive system.
Six-speed manual and DSG transmissions should feature, with all of this translating to a 0-100km/h time of around 5.0 seconds.
Reports also suggest the new R's exhaust will get a louder and more booming exhaust note, which should please fans of the Mk5 R32's grunty V6.
The new Golf R will benefit from the same weight-saving changes featured across the all-new Golf range, with at least 100kg expected to be cut, thanks to Volkswagen's new 'MQB' platform.
We expect to see the new Golf R at September's Frankfurt Motor Show.
