2014 PRADO IN AUSTRALIA FROM OCTOBER
As revealed on Thursday, the 2014 Prado gets a restyled face and a number of other cosmetic tweaks, while the existing two engine options carry over unchanged.
The updated Prado will make its Australian debut in October.
On the styling front, the 2014 Prado will arrive wearing 'fanged' lamps and LED daytime running lights, along with an extravagant grille design that gets meatier bars and bold chrome frame.
Changes at the rear end are limited to a new lens design for the existing tail-lamps and a bolder new garnish and number-plate surround.
There's also an upgraded front bumper design, with the new over-sized styling affording better protection to the radiator grille and headlights.
Updates in the cabin are similarly subtle, rounded out by a revised layout to the centre stack and switches, and an updated instrument panel.
Toyota says it has given the second- and third-row seats an upgrade however, and there's also new colour and fabric options avaialble in the cabin.
International engine options have carried over largely unchanged, and we can likely expect the same here.
That will mean the familiar 4.0 litre six and 3.0 litre four-cylinder engines will star again, offering 202kW/381Nm and 127kW/410Nm respectively.
Driving upgrades include revisions to both the standard suspension and Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System packages, improving stability and ride comfort.
Safety is also improved for 2014, with the addition of a Rear Cross Traffic Alert system, along with trailer sway control and emergency brake signal.

The Prado's Lexus-badged cousin, the GX 460, has also been updated for 2014.
The 2014 GX picks up the familiar Lexus 'spindle' grille design, while changes elsewhere are limited to minor styling and technology tweaks.
