The cat's out of the bag. Here is Toyota's new 2014 Corolla sedan. These images offer the first official look at the new small car.
The new Corolla sedan continues the formula of its predecessor in sporting a unique look, separate to the style of the Corolla hatch that launched in Australia last year.
The interior of the new sedan has also been given its own styling, and while there are shared themes across the dash, a new integrated audio and display system can be seen in the centre stack. (See our gallery below for comparison images of both interiors.)
Whether this is the same model we see in Australia is still to be confirmed, with a version of the same car surfacing in the Asian press with different front- and rear-end styling, and minor sheetmetal differences.
The lines of this version clearly draw on the styling themes of Toyota's new Avalon sedan, with a similar design across the front bumper, headlights and grille. The new Avalon is not offered in Australia and a local debut is not expected.
Like the hatch, the Corolla sedan is powered by a 103kW 1.8 litre petrol engine, matched to either a six-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission.
Toyota Australia has confirmed it will reveal local details for the new Corolla at 5:30pm today.
