2014 SUBARU WRX AUSTRALIA

Subaru Australia has expanded its successful online ordering system to include its new 2014 WRX performance sedan.

The system first launched in 2012 to help Subaru deal with its small supply of BRZ coupes, with 50 of the first 201 available cars flying out the (virtual) doors in the first 1.5 hours.

Now, from 12pm AEDST today, Subaru will make 100 pre-order deposit spots available to buyers through a special portal at www.subaru.com.au/wrx-top-100 (link opens in new window).

Securing one of the first 100 2014 WRX sedans will require a $2500 deposit, guaranteeing you a seat in one of the first models to arrive in March or April next year.

You'll also get your first scheduled service for free, Subaru says.

Online pre-orders will close at 11:59pm on December 13, or as soon as the 100 WRXs are pre-ordered - whichever occurs first (we suspect the latter - Ed).

Local pricing and specs won't be revealed until next year, and Subaru has assured buyers that a full refund will be offered if those details prove unsatisfactory.

After the first 100 pre-order deposits are taken, sales will continue through the traditional Subaru retail network.

"We've already had a huge spike of interest in WRX on our own website and are aware of significant pent-up demand," Subaru Australia boss Nick Senior said today.

"This initiative will offer our most dedicated WRX fans the opportunity to secure their car early, while also adding cachet to their purchase by getting an individually numbered vehicle."
