Images of what appear to be the 2014 Skoda Radid Spaceback (wagon) have appeared on a Czech enthusiast website.
The images are believed to have come from Skoda’s online configurator, with an eagle-eyed Autoforum reader snapping screenshots of the wagon-bodied car.
The images have since been removed from the website. But we shouldn’t have to wait long to see the real Rapid Spaceback, with the wagon expected to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
The Skoda Rapid first appeared locally at the Australian International Motor Show in Sydney last year and a lift-back version is set to join Skoda’s local line-up soon.
Australian Skoda Rapid customers will have the choice of either a 77kW 1.2 litre TSI petrol engine or a 90kW 1.4 TSI petrol engine.
No diesel engine will be offered initially, but buyers will have the choice of either manual or DSG twin-clutch automatic transmissions.
Skoda's 2012 sales increased by around 70 percent compared with 2011. The local line-up currently includes the Fabia, Roomster, Octavia, Supurb and Yeti, which is the carmaker’s best seller.
No word yet on whether we will see the Radid Spaceback in Australian showrooms.
Keep watching TMR for news on the arrival of the Rapid lift-back in Australia and news from the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
