Skoda's all-new 2014 Octavia draws nearer, with the already-revealed liftback sedan joined this week by the new Octavia Combi wagon.

The official unveiling of the Combi follows last year's debut of the sharp new Octavia, and a handful of leaked RS performance sedan images in recent weeks.

The Czech carmaker will also introduce a new all-wheel-drive system with the new Octavia range, using the same fifth-generation Haldex system featured with the new 2013 Golf hatch.

Like its liftback sedan sibling, the new Octavia Combi is a larger offering than its predecessor, growing 90mm in length and 45mm in width.

The wagon's wheelbase is also 110mm longer, ensuring greater passenger leg room and storage capacity. Rear leg room grows to 73mm.

Skoda says the Combi's 610 litres (up from 580) seats-up rear storage is a new best for the segment, and seats-down storage has also grown to 1740 litres (up from 1620).

More details for the Octavia Combi will be revealed with its Geneva Motor Show debut next month, but expect engine options and features to match the new sedan.

Skoda's new Octavia family is scheduled for a fourth-quarter 2013 debut, meaning the current range will soldier on for some time yet.
