The new model’s reveal also follows the Australian launch in 2013 of the new Octavia range, and we can likely expect the new Scout to join the local line later this year.
As with its predecessor, the new Octavia Scout gets taller suspension, rugged body cladding and new bumpers at both ends, and unique interior trim features.
The new Scout sits 33mm higher than the regular Octavia wagon, which, combined with all-wheel-drive, makes it a candidate for light off-road work.
Engine options will include a pair of diesel units and one petrol engine, likely shared with the regular Octavia range.
In Australia, we can likely expect the Scout to be offered with a diesel engine only, matched with the Volkswagen Group’s dual-clutch auto transmission.
Speaking with TMR today, Skoda Australia's Kurt McGuinness confirmed a 2015 launch for the new Octavia Scout, although specific timing is still to be locked in.
Watch for more details to come at next month’s Geneva Motor Show.
