2014 SKODA OCTAVIA AUSTRALIA
UPDATE: The Octavia has now been officially launched in Australia. Click here for details.
Pricing and details for Skoda's 2014 Octavia range have surfaced online today after the company mistakenly published updated website pages before its media embargo had expired.
The Octavia's Australian media event is occuring this week (TMR's Tim O'Brien is on the scene), but today's boo-boo has revealed a $22,990 drive-away price and details of Skoda's new capped-price servicing program.
That $22,990 drive-away price applies to the manual 'Ambition 103TSI' sedan, and marks a significant reduction from the outgoing model's pre-runout price of around $24,990 before on-road costs.
Prices for other models are still to be announced, although the page has revealed details of the powertrains that will be offered across the range.
The Ambition 103TSI model is powered by a 1.4 litre four-cylinder petrol engine offering 103kW and 250Nm, while other engines include a 132kW/250Nm 1.8 petrol and a 110kW/320Nm 2.0 diesel.
Six-speed manual and seven-speed DSG automatic transmissions will be offered with the 103TSI, while the 132TSI will get a seven-speed DSG. The diesel-powered 110TDI will get a six-speed DSG.
Local fuel consumption figures known so far include 5.2 l/100km for the DSG-equipped 103TSI, and 4.9 l/100km for the 110TDI diesel.
Skoda will also introduce a new Capped Price Servicing program, covering a vehicle's first six services at 12 months or 15,000km (whichever comes first) up to six years / 90,000km.
Pricing across the first six services for the 103TSI come out to $2044. The price grows to $2387 over the six services for the 132TSI, and the 110TDI is most expensive at $2464.
The site's service schedule also notes that the $173 pollen filter and brake fluid replacement - required every 24 months - is not included in the capped-price program.
Watch for more details on the new Octavia to come this week, along with TMR's 'First Drive' review.
