2014 Renault Captur SUV Revealed

Renault has given its upcoming new Captur crossover a very early unveiling this week, ahead of its global premiere at March's Geneva Motor Show.

Revealed in leaked technical drawings last month, the new compact SUV is loosely based on the style of the original Captur concept revealed in 2011.

Where the earlier showcar offered a coupe-like style, the final product eschews the sports car look for a more practical design.

As with all of Renault's latest offerings, the Captur features the carmaker's new family face, connecting the large headlights and badge with a long wing-like grille.

The Captur is built on the same platform that underpins Nissan's small Juke (hitting Australia this year), along with the all-new Clio light car.

In developing the new crossover, Renault says it focuses on delivering the driving position of an SUV, the interior versatility of a small MPV, and "the agility and driving enjoyment of a compact hatchback".
