Porsche has announced its 2014 Macan SUV will kick off in Australia at $84,900 plus on-road costs.

That amount will buy you the entry-level Macan S Diesel, powered by a 3.0 litre V6 engine with a single turbocharger producing 190kW and 580Nm while sipping diesel at 6.3 l/100km.

The entry-level Macan handles the 0-100km/h sprint in 6.3 seconds.
