2014 MITSUBISHI LANCER
The cost of entry for the base model ES remains firm at $19,990 plus on-roads, but Mitsubishi Australia has dug deep in the options bin to boost the ageing Lancer's appeal in the competitive small-car market.
For 2014, the ES picks up keyless entry, new seat fabrics and 16-inch alloy wheels. It also features leather door-inserts, chrome door handles and dark silver highlights in the cabin.
The power windows have auto function for the driver, and there's a tilt adjustable steering wheel with hands-free audio and phone functions, and cruise control.
The mid-level LX also gets Mitsubishi's 6.1 inch touch display with reversing camera. That's upgraded to seven inches and satellite navigation in the up-spec VRX and turbocharged Ralliart models.
The LX also has reversing sensors and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, sports seats with leather trim, heated front seats, climate control and chrome highlights.
The VRX's standard kit already includes 18-inch alloys, automatic wipers and headlights.
The Ralliart model, available only as a auto-equipped sedan, already includes climate control and an LCD multifunction display.
Mechanical packages remain unchanged, with ES and LX models powered by a 110kW/197Nm 2.0 litre petrol and the VRX driven by a 125kW/226Nm unit. The turbo Ralliart offers 177kW and 343Nm.
2014 Mitsubishi Evo
The 217kW 2014 Evolution's standard kit includes power windows, central locking, immobiliser, security alarm with DataDot, dusk auto lights and wipers, cruise control, power door mirrors with electric fold control and push-button start.
There's also a 6.1 inch display with reversing camera, hands-free Bluetooth with voice activation and audio streaming, CD player with MP3 and AM/FM radio, iPod and USB connectivity, four speakers and two tweeters.
The Evolution five-speed manual can be upgraded with the $3000 Evolution Performance Pack, adding Brembo two-piece type front discs, Bilstein front and rear shock absorbers, Eibach front and rear springs and 18-inch BBS forged alloy wheels.
Upgrading to the Evolution MR adds the Performance Pack as standard, along with colour-coded air vents in the bonnet and bumpers, chrome highlights, HID headlights with adaptive front lights.
In the cabin, the MR gets leather Recaro seats up front, and Evolution chrome scuff plates. There's also a seven-inch display with satellite navigation and rear view camera, along with Rockford Fosgate auto.
