Kia will bring its Koup two-door to Australia with a turbocharged engine in October, making it the first petrol-engined Kia in this market to be powered by a forced-induction engine.

Revealed in March at the New York Auto Show, it had always been known that the naturally-aspirated 2014 Koup would replace the current Cerato Koup sometime in the last quarter of 2013.

"I can confirm today that the new Koup, to be launched in a couple of months time, will pioneer turbo power for Kia in Australia," said Kia Australia COO Tony Barlow, at the local launch of the all-new Cerato hatch.
