Jeep's updated Grand Cherokee has bowed in Detroit this week, ahead of an Australian debut that will likely occur later this year.

Launched here in 2011, the Grand Cherokee is the first of Jeep's all-new model range that will debut over the next few years.

For the new model year, the big SUV gets a 'de-chromed' grille design and new headlights that borrow more than a little from its stablemate, the Chrysler 300.

There's also new bumpers at both ends, and the tail-lights have been given a more European look, replete with the increasingly popular LED ribbon lighting.

In the cabin, the big SUV gets a brand-new steering wheel design and a revised centre stack, with new dial and switch designs, and Chrysler's updated UConnect infotainment system.
