Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo took a sensational second career win at the Hungaroring in a chaotic, incident-strewn Hungarian Grand Prix.

Fernando Alonso took a tenacious second place on shot tyres, followed home by Lewis Hamilton who drove through the field after starting from the pits.

PRACTICE AND QUALIFYING

Many of the drivers struggled on the hot, slippery Hungaroring, the Pirelli tyres having trouble coming to terms with the rarely used surface. Hamilton was quickest in all three sessions.

For the second weekend in a row, Hamilton's came unstuck in qualifying and again, through no fault of his own. Very early in Q1, he felt the brakes go away and he arrived in the pitlane entry with the rear of his car on fire - he hadn't even put in a time.

Rosberg almost put himself out after running wide at a suddenly wet turn one, but McLaren's Magnussen did the job right, sliding off at speed and punching the tyre wall.

The race director threw the red flags and there was a short pause before Rosberg duly took pole on a dry track.

Sadly for Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen, he was outqualified by the man who would take his seat, Jules Bianchi and he wouldn't progress to Q2.

The Williams of Valtteri Bottas very nearly beat Vettel to best of the rest while Daniel Ricciardo took fourth.
