Ford Australia has today confirmed a number of key details for its new Mondeo range - but buyers won't be able to get into one for another year.

Unveiled way back in January 2012, the new Mondeo was expected to hit Australia this year, but last-minute homologation and specification changes saw European and Australian production delayed.

When the new Mondeo finally lands here in the second half of next year, buyers will have the choice of 1.5 and 2.0 litre EcoBoost petrol engines, along with a 2.0 litre Duratorq diesel option.

The 1.5 litre engine is the newest addition to the EcoBoost family, and Ford says it will offer around 133kW and 240Nm - or about the same as the 1.6 litre engine current available, but with better fuel and emissions figures.
