Ford Australia has underlined a number of new and updated commercial and passenger models for 2014 - including, of course, the return of the venerable Falcon XR8.
The first cab off the rank is the new Transit van range, with the front-wheel-drive Transit Custom arriving in January. The larger rear-wheel-drive Transit will launch in the second quarter, with specific timing to be confirmed. (See Transit news and reviews.)
In February, Ford will add new models in the compact EcoSport range, debuting the entry- and mid-level Ambiente and Trend grades. (EcoSport news and reviews.)
The Kuga SUV will also get a light update early in 2014, picking up two new colours and an optional $1200 hands-free tailgate and smartkey system on Trend models. (Kuga news and reviews.)
The popular Ranger pickup will add yet more variants in 2014, with the recently added XLS model now available with 2.2 and 3.2 litre engines, along with six-speed manual and automatic transmissions.
Previously only the 3.2 engine and manual transmission were offered with this spec.
“We have responded to customers who have been asking for satellite navigation, as well as a more private buyer-focused Ranger in the XLS which offers improved exterior appearance and interior comfort while delivering outstanding off-road abilities," Ford's Graeme Whickman said.
The 4x2 XL Single Cab Chassis 2.2-litre low-rider Ranger also gains side airbags as standard, while satellite navigation has been added to all XLT models. (Ranger news and reviews.)
Late 2014 - specific timing still to be confirmed - will mark the debut of the final update to Ford's outgoing Falcon and Territory.
A major facelift and technology overhaul will headline the Falcon's updates, and the fan-favourite XR8 will also return to the range.
More details about the Falcon and Territory range will be released closer to launch.
