Fiat’s Doblo small van has arrived in local showrooms for the first time, priced from $22,000 plus on-roads.
The Doblo is available from launch with a choice of four engines - including three diesel-powered options and one petrol - matched with manual and automatic transmissions.
The smaller diesel engine, coming in two power grades, and the petrol unit will be available to short-wheelbase Doblo customers, while a larger 2.0 litre diesel will power the long-wheelbase Doblo Maxi.
The 1.6 litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine makes 66kW/200Nm or 77kW/290Nm, while the 2.0 litre diesel in the Maxi produces 99kW and 320Nm.
A sole petrol-engine, a 1.4 litre four-cylinder unit, is good for 70kW and 127Nm. The base 1.6 litre diesel is the most frugal with a fuel figure of 4.9 l/100km.
The shorter wheelbase variant measures 4390mm, stretching to 4740mm in the Maxi. Fiat says each model has a “class-leading” payload of 750kg and 1000kg respectively.
