Chevrolet has released technical details for its 2014 Corvette Stingray, revealing that power outputs will be slightly higher than first thought.

The 6.2 litre direct-injection V8 will produce 339kW and 624Nm of torque whilst a sports exhaust package will add 5kW and 6Nm to those figures respectively. Around 428Nm of torque will be available as low as 1000RPM.

Chevrolet says that these outputs are the highest ever offered in an entry-level Corvette, with the Corvette Stingray Convertible receiving the same power plants.

As for other features, the 2014 Corvette Stingray will offer either a seven-speed rev-matched manual transmission or a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters.

Acceleration times have improved in the new Corvette Stingray, with 0-100km/h covered in "less than four seconds", with fuel consumption listed at 10.9 lt/100Km on the highway.

The new Corvette will be the first to offer fuel-saving cylinder shut-down via the Active Fuel Management system; a system familiar to eight-cylinder VE Commodore owners in Australia.

The 2014 Corvette Stingray goes on sale in the US later this year - but, as always, it's unlikely to be available in Australia in any official capacity.
