A replacement for Cadillac's distinctive CTS large car is being readied for the 2014 model year. Even covered in the usual vinyl wrap and boxy covers, these new spy photos offer a wealth of clues about the new car.

While staying true to the familiar new Cadillac styling, the new CTS is expected to bring an update to the company's image. The car spied here shows a bigger grille and new bumpers, in line with the new ATS midsizer.

The cars pictured at the Nurburgring sport 'Twin Turbo' badging on the engine covers, pointing to a performance version of the popular sedan. The aero parts on the front bumper are likely to be exclusive to the quick version of the CTS.

It's not yet clear if the twin-turbo engine will replace the supercharged V8 in the CTS-V, although it is likely that powerhouse has some time and tricks up its sleeve yet.

More performance-indicating parts are at the rear, with an integrated diffuser joining a new rear bumper.

The CTS was something of a revelation for Cadillac. Once famed for its big, cushy sedans and coupes, the 2002 CTS brought a harder edge to the brand, propelling it away from its old-man-in-Florida image and towards the European sporty sedan market.
