2014 BMW X1 AUSTRALIA
BMW has introduced an updated X1 SUV range in Australia this week, following its unveiling in December last year.
Kicking off with the same $46,300 starting price offered in 2013, the renewed X1 range is now equipped exclusively with an eight-speed auto.
Other updates for the sDrive models include a lightly refreshed exterior, new 17-inch alloy wheels, satin silver roof rails and a leather-trimmed sports steering wheel.
There’s also an anti-dazzle interior rear-view mirror, vicinity lighting for the exterior door handles, illuminated vanity mirrors, new reading lights and new cargo space lighting.
Extended Bluetooth functions have also been added, offering media streaming, album cover display, multiple device pairing and space for a snap-in adaptor.
The all-wheel-drive xDrive20d and xDrive28i models get the same enhancements, along with gearshift paddles and the Parking Package with rear view camera, front distance park control (rear standard already) and anti-dazzle for interior and exterior mirrors.
The X1’s options packs have also been revised for 2014, with the Visibility pack getting High-Beam Assist in place of the Lights Package, which is now standard.
The Parking Package, standard with xDrive models, is priced at $850 for sDrive models.
BMW’s X1 has notched up 515 sales for 2014 year-to-date, marking a nearly 21 percent increase over the same period in 2013.
Audi’s Q3 remains a more popular option with buyers however, selling 777 year-to-date - a 6.6 percent drop on last year’s figures for the same period.
The premium compact SUV market will get a shakeup later this month, with the coming launch of the new Mercedes-Benz GLA, priced from $47,900.
