Images of the 2014 BMW M5 have surfaced early, spied online this week by a German BMW enthusiast website.

Appearing briefly on the carmaker's online configurator, the gallery reveals the slightly updated styling of the 2014 M5, likely due in Australia near the end of this year or early next.

A more pronounced grille is among the standout changes, mirroring the bolder look of the M6 range.

The updated M5 also gets a slight tweak to the headlight design, although you'll need a microscope to spot the changes.
