BMW’s facelifted 5 Series has been revealed in print this week, ahead of its expected public debut at April’s Shanghai Auto Show.

Published by German mag Auto Zeitung, the image reveals the first significant cosmetic changes to the 'F10' since its 2010 debut.

More a 'chin lift' in reality, the updates shown here include a revised front bumper with new fog lights and chrome detailing.

Also visible are revised headlight internals, with adaptive LED units expected to become an option.

Other details are yet to be revealed, but new alloy wheel designs and a revised rear bumper are also expected to feature.

Subtle upgrades are expected on the inside too, including updated trim materials and expanded ConnectedDrive functionality.

These changes follow a similar update to the larger 7 Series range in late 2012, and are expected to be applied to the related 5 Series GT at a later date.

Australia

Speaking with TMR today, a BMW spokesperson confirmed the refreshed 5 Series is expected to make its Australian debut toward the end of this year.
