2014 Bentley Flying Spur Teased

Bentley's big saloon is coming in for a major makeover, with new teaser footage and images for the 2014 Continental Flying Spur arriving this week.

Spied testing in recent months, the updated Flying Spur is expected to introduce styling inspired again by the Continental GT Coupe, updated in 2011.

While the revised Spur is scheduled for an unveiling on February 20, this week's teasers reveal changes at both ends, and along the big sedan's profile.

New sheetmetal will give the Spur a flowing new belt line with sharper creases, along with a slimmer and more sporting D-pillar design.

Expect changes at the front and rear to include new headlights, a new grille and a new bumper, while the rear should also get re-styled lights.

An overhauled cabin will also feature, with new technologies, new styling and new materials.

The 4.0 litre V8 engine that joined the GT range is also expected to enter the Flying Spur family, delivering 373kW and 660Nm of torque.

In the GT, the engine drops four cylinders under light load to act as a V4, knocking 40 percent off fuel usage. That makes for a return of around 10.5l/100km versus 17.1l/100km for the W12.

A transmission upgrade will also be on the cards, graduating from the old six-speed shifter to the new eight-speed unit.
