2014 Audi S3 Sportback Revealed

Audi's new S3 hot hatch range has been rounded out this week with the international debut of the five-door Sportback bodystyle.

The Sportback's unveiling follows the unveiling in September of the three-door S3, but it's the five-door model that will launch in Australia later this year. 

As with the regular A3 Sportback, the five-door S3 is longer than its three-door sibling, with a wheelbase stretched by 35mm for increaesed interior space. 

Power in both S3 models is provided by Audi's 2.0 litre TFSI four-cylinder engine, delivering 221kW and 380Nm of torque - a significant leap beyond the 195kW/350Nm of the older model. 

The turbo mill is mated to a choice of six-speed manual or S tronic automatic transmissions, and Audi's quattro all-wheel-drive system also stars here. 

Audi promises a 0-100km/h time of 5.6 seconds for the manual-equipped S3 Sportback, and a much sharper 5.0 seconds when fitted with the S tronic dual-clutch auto.
