UPDATE: Audi has now revealed the RS 6. Full details here.
Audi's RS 6 Avant wagon, spied thundering around the Nurburgring in recent weeks, has snuck out onto the internet this week ahead of its official unveiling.
Technical details for the RS 6 are still to be revealed, but reports suggest the new hero wagon will utilise a more powerful version of the bi-turbo V8 that drives the 309kW Audi S6 and Bentley's 373kW Continental GT coupe.
Unlike those 'lesser' vehicles however, the RS 6 is expected to deliver around 425kW and 650Nm of power, in a bid to keep BMW's 412kW M5 in the rear view mirror.
As with all RS models, power will be sent to all four wheels, and an eight-speed automatic transmission will be charged with the task of getting it there.
According to Autowp, the RS 6 will belt to 100km/h in a properly supercar-like 3.9 seconds - but probably not with its 1680 litre rear cargo space loaded up.
On the styling front, the RS 6 Avant continues the styling evolution introduced by the RS 4, pushing the design further with a new front bumper and a nested-frame grille design.
The rear is standard RS fare however, with a subtle diffuser flanked by the familiar elliptical exhaust tips.
Watch for the new RS 6 Avant to debut at March's Geneva Motor Show, with Australian lauch details to follow.
