Volvo's jacked-up XC70 SUV has picked up a number of new features for 2013, giving the ageing wagon a new lease on life in the Australian market.

For the new model year, the XC70 gains the familiar turbocharged 3.0 litre T6 petrol engine, producing 224kW and 440Nm of torque.

The top-shelf turbo petrol joins joins the existing 179kW 3.2 petrol and 158kW D5 diesel engines, and fuel consumption is rated at 10.5 litres.

The XC70 also picks up Active High Beam with the optional Driver Alert System, while automatic headlights have been added to the Rain Sensor option pack.
