Toyota's Altitude pack has landed in the Prado range again this week, a year on from the special edition's last appearance.

The carmaker says it has stuffed more than $10,000 in features into the package this year, while adding $5000 to the price of the GXL model it's based on.

Already Australia's best-selling large SUV, the Prado gains a number of interior tweaks in Altitude form, pulling items from the up-spec VX and Kakadu models.

Among the added features here are a seven-inch touchscreen display with satellite navigation, along with on-screen guides to go with the reversing camera.

Leather highlights have been added to the cabin, along with 'easy to read' Optitron instruments and a 14-speaker sound system - eight more than you'll find in the GXL.

There's also a nine-inch display mounted in the roof for rear passengers, combining DVD playback, 5.1 channel audio and three wireless headphone sets.

On the outside, there's a tilt-and-slide moonroof, parking sensors at the front (adding to the existing rear set), tinted windows and - of course - Altitude badging.

Existing features from the GXL model include three-zone climate-controlled air-conditioning, audio controls on the steering wheel, smart entry and start, cruise control and long-range fuel tanks (87 litre main and 63 litre sub).

There are seven airbags, vehicle stability and traction control, anti-skid brakes, hill-start assist control and downhill assist control.

The Prado Altitude is powered by the familiar 127kW/410Nm 3.0 litre four-cylinder turbodiesel, mated to a five-speed auto.

Pricing (excludes on-road costs)

The LandCruiser Prado Altitude is priced at $68,990, with the choice of four exterior colours - Crystal Pearl (previously reserved for Kakadu and VX grades), Ebony, Silver Pearl and Graphite.
