Toyota's special-edition Touring package is back on the scene, this time with the all-new Aurion that launched earlier this year.

As with previous incarnations, the Aurion Touring Special Edition (SE) gets new features, beyond the $36,490 AT-X trim grade the pack is based on.

Toyota says it has endowed the big sedan with more than $1800 of additional features - but at $37,990, the price has also risen by $1500.

The Touring's extra features include 17-inch alloy wheels - up from 16-inch - along with front fog lamps and a sports grille design. There is also a rear spoiler and the usual SE badging.

In the cabin, there's a 'premium' steering wheel upgrade with audio controls, and sports pedals.

Standard features in the regular AT-X model, and here, include SRS airbags, vehicle stability control and traction control, dual-zone air conditioning, reversing camera and power-operated driver's seat with lumbar support.

There is also a multi-information display and 'Optitron' instruments, an eco indicator and six-speaker audio with iPod/USB/aux connectivity.

The Aurion range is provided by a revised version of the Toyota's 3.5 litre quad-cam V6, delivering the same 200kW and 336Nm of torque as the previous model. Fuel consumption is listed at 9.3 l/100km.

Availability of the Aurion Touring SE is limited to 1500 cars, to be produced until December.
