2013 Subaru Liberty On Sale In Australia: New Features, New Pricing

Subaru's updated 2013 Liberty is now on sale in Australia, bringing style tweaks, powertrain improvements, new featues and sharpened pricing. Previewed by the September debut of the high-riding Liberty X sedan, the updated sedan and wagon model

Subaru's updated 2013 Liberty is now on sale in Australia, bringing style tweaks, powertrain improvements, new featues and sharpened pricing.

Previewed by the September debut of the high-riding Liberty X sedan, the updated sedan and wagon models get a new front grille and foglight surrounds, along with new wheel designs.

Pricing at the entry end has fallen by $2000 to $32,900 for the 2.5i sedan, and improved fuel economy for the naturally-aspirated 2.5 litre models will boost appeal.

Fuel consumption in the Liberty 2.5i an 2.5i Premium models has fallen from 8.3 to 7.9 l/100km, a 4.8 percent improvement brought by the new FB boxer engine paired with Subaru's Lineartronic CVT automatic transmission.

The changes also mean that power for the 2.5i and 2.5i Premium models has increased from 123 to 127kW, and torque is up from 229 to 235Nm.

Changes to the line-up have seen the manual option dropped from the 2.5i wagon, and the big 3.6 six-cylinder engine is now available only with the Liberty X sedan.

Subaru says it has also improved torque distribution for the Liberty's all-wheel-drive system, with the enhancements benefiting from testing on Australian roads.
