2013 Subaru Liberty Exiga On Sale In Australia, Adds Seventh Seat

Subaru's updated-for-2013 Libert Exiga wagon is now on sale in Australia, adding a handful of tweaks and a seventh seat.

Kicking off at the same $37,990 MLP as the 2012 model, the updated Exiga gains not only a seventh seat, but also new door mirrors and, on premium versions, a new 17-inch wheel design.

While the Japanese-market Exiga has always featured a seventh spot, the absence of a sash belt saw Subaru Australia opt for a six-seat layout - a decision driven by the potential for missing out on a 5-Star ANCAP safety rating.

Now, with a full lap-sash belt newly added, Subaru Australia is now offering the extra seat as standard equipment, making the Exiga more competitive in the people-moving segment.

"Liberty Exiga will now appeal to even more families that need the option of a seventh seat, in addition to the significant cargo volume it offers for load carrying, with the seats down in a variety of combinations," Subaru Australia boss Nick Senior said.

In January, the 2012 Exiga gained a reversing camera, dusk-sensing headlights, USB and Aux connectivity, and steering-mounted controls for Bluetooth calling and audio streaming.

The Exiga remains otherwise unchanged, with power provided by Subaru's 123kW/229Nm 2.5 litre EJ25 boxer engine, paired to a Lineartronic CVT automatic gearbox and all-wheel-drive system.

Fuel economy is listed at 8.6 l/100km, emitting 202g/km of CO2.
